Hi, I am an advanced (but not pro) windsurfer addicted to waves, and I will move to Melbourne from Perth in a couple of months. Are there any recommended wave sailing spots in (or near) Melbourne? Ideally I'm looking for spots as consistent as Margaret River in WA. Maybe Sandy Point?
Cheers!
What do you mean by near?
Phillip Island - 142ks
Point Leo/Flinders - 90ks
Gunnamatta - 100ks
Torquay - 100ks
Ocean Grove - 100ks
None of these are "near" Melbourne and i'd say none are as consistent as MR but the Mornington Peninsula is probably the best option for consistency.

One thing we have in Vic is variety Jetro but you are going to be disappointed if you are looking for consistency. Just about all of our wave sessions are one day wonders, not like Gnarloo where you can park for 2 weeks and wave sail just about every day. Never sailed Margret's so not sure how consistent the seabreezes are there.
Some pretty good wave spots but nearest is Point Leo an hour from Melbourne off peak and the others (Phillip Island, Sandy Point, Point Impossible, Poo Point/13th beach, Torquay) 2 hours away. Nice thing is we get both tacks and a range of reef and beach breaks. Melbourne traffic makes Perth peak hour look like a Sunday drive which makes the cross city wave chase a challenge though.
We have a pretty keen wave crew here in Melbourne so let us know when you get here and we'll add you to our Messenger group.

Awesome!!! Thank you so much for the advice! As soon as I arrive I will notify you all.
Another question: The wavesailing season it's all year? Or it's from october-march (like here in th WA?)

Pretty much all year but wind is more consistent in summer and swell is bigger in winter but t
You'll need a good 4/3 wettie
Hi guys posted this in wavesailing so sorry if doubling up
heading to bells to hopefully see the final and watch the bell get rung ....
any advice on wavesailing and surfing based on the forecast ahead would be great.
Competant wavesailing and surfing but not looking for anything to big
Melbourne is a windy location, on Port Phillip Bay (Melbourne) we get high wind windsurfing. Wave sailing is >1 hour away
bring small sails its fun and wind can get up above 40 knots sometimes 50 once a year.
