Parks Victoria News
It's been a bit quite from PV since last summer with regards to the progress on the Water Sports Zones, that WV has been working towards with PV and KBV. The shared water sports zones will replace what was the proposed Kiting zones, which windsurfers are meant to have the same rights as Kite Boarding does. Once the zones have been released, details on these zones and how they will be used will be issued.

The latest news is all good, with progress on the current boating zones from Mt Martha to Sorrento (Inc. Rosebud and Rye). Within this are there are three proposed shared water sports zones at Rye, Rosebud and Mount Martha. At this stage these zones are near completion, with most of the buoys and piles installed with a few removals and adjustments still to do. PV expect to have them completed by next Spring/Summer sailing season.

PV have indicated they are likely to commence a reasonable percentage of the remainder zones (PV funds permitting) along the east of Port Phillip Bay shoreline in the new financial year.

I'll be at the AGM again this year...

I wonder if I'll be noted as 'non member' in the AGM meeting minutes again

I know this is going to be painfull and the haters are going to hate, but can you please revise what you've stated to be very clear and concise.

Are all the zones that we proposed at the meeting at Parkdale YC accepted?

Can you please clearly state where all the 'shared zones' are. It would be handy if there is a map.

What constitues a 'shared zone'? By the meaning of watersports, does that mean we have to share with PWC's, sailing vessels, powerboats as well as kiters?

We also proposed windsufing only places. Was this proposal accepted and if so, can you please state where these zones are.

Where you state the zones are compelted, is that just the replacement and moving the bouys to the new zones?

If by complete, does that also mean the new 'shared watersports' zone signs have been erected and ready to use?

What I have posted is what has been sent from PV to WV. To answer each question as best as possible please see below.

In writing no, but none have been rejected at this stage. However there has always been concerns for the Elwood zone. A couple more zones were also added since then by PV.

PV will issue a map once they have finish their works. WV will advise once WV has received a copy or a link to a new map from PV.

Full details of the zone usage will be issued from PV. WV will advise once WV has received a copy or a link to operation usage from PV. In general windsurfers will share the zones with all water users. Each user will have different rules as stated by PV. The changes for windsurfers should reflect the same new rules the Kiters have at the StKilda Kite zone. Refer to the PV website for more details.

An update to this was issued some months back. The reason for the shared wind sports zones allows both Kiters and windsurfers to use these zones under the new rules. Some beaches will be better suited for windsurfers over kiters and both WV and KBV will assist with education on these zones.

That is my understanding, but there is a question mark around sign details. Once again we have to wait to PV confirm what is deemed completed.

It might take awhile for Parks Vic to get back to you as their employees are currently involved in industrial action and part of that action involves no working with community groups. It's been 2.5 yrs of no action from the gov and their pay offer is 2.5% over 3 yrs. Wait untill fire season [}:)]

Refer to Kato comments, PV has been limited to complete works based on a lack of government funds. Compared to previous years PV have done a lot more than before. Once any zones are completed, we would have achieved our first goal.

This was meant to be a FYI post, not a bash session.

I suppose that depends on whether you're a member...

Really we're being very nice allowing you to talk at all what with you not being a member....

Now, three points

1) recognise sarcasm (see above)

2) don't take the piss out of Stephen when he's done a whole load of work to try to sort out access

3) be nice, or we'll turn the Earthquake machine on again.

So you're saying WV only represents it's members and not windsurfers within Vic?

(Oh my god. You're like Tom Cruise in a Few Good Men. "Yes, I did give the order")

Nope I'm not. Who wv represents is different to who can attend the agm.

I refer you to my first point yet again.

You are, once again, welcome to attend the AGM, welcome to speak at the AGM and we may put a note in the minutes again.

Now be nice or the first motion will be

"Only members or people wearing party hats shall be allowed to speak at the AGM."
