Well that was pretty nuclear... and about 1.5 hours after the change came through, north Ricketts put on some of the biggest bay waves I've ever seen/sailed. Even got mixmastered and had to swim after my gear - cant say that happens too often in the bay.

I arrived at Port Melbourne a few minutes before the change, to see a beach filled with bikinis and beach balls. In a few minutes the screaming hordes were gone, leaving the beach clear for us!

It's quite a sight to see an entire beach get up and run for their cars on beach road. Someone with movie making skills should record the next one

Always astounds me that people don't think good beach weather means getting sand-blasted and at least a metre of shorebreak. Must be something wrong with me that I'm now more interested in the state of the water 200m offshore rather than the state of the hot bods on the beach (not that there were any there by the time I arrived).
That sure was a nuclear session. The 3.7 probably gets one outing every two years. I was actually surprised at how awesomely comfortable it all was.
Nearly ended on a downer though. I decided to give the new Quad a go after thoroughly enjoying the old Acid 74. Was just getting smashed in the shorebreak and was forced to do a few short walks of shame, until it picked up to over 35kts and was able to power out with this new weird feeling board.

I was on an Acid 80 yesterday and the board handled it fine. The Acid really is a classic board for handling the rough stuff. That said, I'm on the lookout for a new bayboard in the 56cm/80 litre range - according to my logs the trusty Acid 80 has done me for 151 sessions since 2006; not bad I reckon.
