Thats where local windsurfer Jaques cracked 40 knots on the bay!!
Yes, its awesome, beautiful scenery and I dont know why I havent sailed it seeing its 20 mins from my house.
I think Red has sailed there.
infront of the sailing club yes?
(take lh turn near old high school, and down dirt track across the paddock)
.
There's a few cats on swing moorings.
It looks sandy and waist deep for a fair area.
Nasi is right, very scenic when I checked it out last.
I have been there and seen it looks good thank for your posts have some friends with a beach house at queen cliff who whant to lern so I will take down the old go and let them try it out
Guys ,
is very tide dependant down the Queenscliff end. There are sandbars everywhere which you can sail over on higher tides but become very shallow on lower tides (even exposed - which is great for speedsailing - Jacques hitting 40 knots here) You can launch half way up swan bay at the end of swan bay rd (boat ramp & Jetty) but you will have to walk through some mud to get out. Here is is much deeper as you sail in the main channels.
There was some rumours years ago of lots of blue ringed octopus around but have spoken to marine biologist at Queenscliff and he reckons no more than anywhere else in the bay. Still makes me wear booties though..
Hope this helps..
