I am staying at Rosebud and I normally sail in the north of the bay. I have sailed around Rye in a N'ly but it looks pretty offshore for S'ly. Any suggestions where to go in the south of the bay that is not straight offshore or where it is relatively safe? I will stick to bay side with the little ones. I am not fussy about flat water.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks.
You'll probably need to go around to Dromana or Safety Beach if there's a fair bit of westerly in it, or further round to Mt Martha if it's more southerly. Silly 5 knot speed limit within 500 metres of the beach all the way along that part of the beach, so be warned. The yellow poles mark the 500m zone. All launches along that stretch are quite safe. Offshore wind bayside anywhere from Rosebud to Pt Nepean is pretty crap.
Nice little sail at Mt Martha on the SSW. Very jealous of the water colour compared to my usual spots in the north and a few other sails flying by is good to see.
Ha
maybe it is me. I will have to head back for another sail at Mt Martha and check it hasn't gone a slight tinge of brown!!!
Thanks adriano another spot looks worth a go. Not enough wind for me today though down this way and forecast is not great for wind next few days. I'll see what happens.before I have to head back. May have to venture down to the dark side one other weekend.
