We were in Sandy on saturday (we'd planned the trip a while before). We went in spite of the forecast...
However, it was windy and lots of people were there, but how did they all know? All the forecasts were for light winds.
any wind that comes from the east sandy point and inverloch always get the wind first. i left home and there was not one bit of wind in sight when i got to inverloch it was that windy it put a smile me face saturday.
also i bet they checked the proms wind radar like i did before i left and saw it was blowing over 30 knots east. so thats what made me load me car up as well. and head east
whenever easterlies blow at sandy or inverloch they just seem to get stronger by the hour even when little wind is forecast
HAd a 7.5 up on my 144 ltr in the morning(broke mast) then 5.5 on my 105 in the afternoon. Great day even though I did not venture out onto the speed strip - left that to the experts.

Does the inlet work ok on a S-SE wind direction?
h20 - where are you getting your forecast from? Most I'm seeing is 30 knots. Wind Guru is saying a lot less. Just curious that's all. Cheers.
Ive been meaning to go down to either sandy point or inverloch for a while now. What wind direction does each spot work in? Im probably more keen to head out into the waves than the speed section. And If your sailing the mouth of inverloch where do you rig? Im thinking might head to Inverloch on wednesday is anyone else keen?
hey zac, i might go back down there. email me the night before son. It should take you from rye about 1hour 20 mins. takes me about 50 mins. make sure ya feel ya car up with cheap fuel before ya go down our way. another thing you will need ya smallest sail son you have, on wednesday. it blows about 10 knots more than the bay up there on any local forcasts we get. wednesdy is looking windy for inverloch so take ya wave gear.
