Hi Guys,

Has anyone here sailed at Marlo? Is it an alright spot? Can you recommend the best area to sail there?

Cheers,
Ello

Hi Buddha,
Have sailed there a few times....its a pretty short run, and from time to time it tends to get shallow. Best winds- SW. Lanuch near the jetty
cheers,
Mick

I lived there for a bit (2003) and sailed it a number of times. The estuary was ok but pretty narrow - you barely get speed up and have to gybe. Would be good practice for intermediates though. Sailed out the entrance into the waves a few times. The waves aren't great compared to other spots in the State. Problem is when the W or SW wind gets up the waves get solid quickly and are heavy and dumpy with a nasty shorebreak (similar to Lakes Entrance). Basically this means you only get 1-2 quick bottom turns before it dumps hard on the sandbank. Waves were generally better for riding in ESE winds with smaller swell.
