Raceboard World Championship 2016.

The Australian Windsurfing Association and Windsurfing Queensland are planning for the Raceboard World Championships to be held at the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron from the 21st to the 25th of November 2016. This event will include The International Raceboard Class and the Hybrid 310 class.

I don’t know if a world Raceboard championship has been held in Australia before and may not again for a long time. We would like to invite Australian Raceboarders to register with us as soon as possible and pay their entry fee of $300 dollars. The fee will be fully refundable if you are unable to participate for any reason or if the event doesn’t go ahead. The organising committee will also be trying to run at a small profit by getting sponsorship. If successful, this profit will be returned to the early entrants as bonus for their support.

To meet our commitments to the International Windsurfing Association, we need some money in the bank. And we need to know how many Australian members will want to participate in this event. That is why we are asking for your assistance so far ahead. Our volunteers are working very hard to make it happen.

Please help us by entering and paying now.

You can do so by emailing me for further details tony.matta@hotmail.com.

Where can the class rules be found online?

What boards dominate the class?

www.raceboard.org/

This is the international raceboard class website.
The dominant board in the 380 long class seems to be the Starboard Phantom 377.
But that could change. Some sailors have done very well in recent competitions on the old models.

You will find rules there for the 380 class and the new Hybrid class R300.

A quick looks at the rules puzzles me. Does my old Speed Pro-Am qualify?

What about all the old F2 Lightenings out there?

Both the speed and F2 qualify in the 380cm class with 9.5m maximum sail.

This year in the QLD championship, we also have a category for boards built before 1995 to sail with a 7.8m sail.
We may have this in the worlds next year as well.

We are in the process of assessing the demand for charter equipment for the 2016 world championships in Brisbane.
Proposed pricing is $1000 for a phantom 377 with severn 8.5 or 9.5m raceboard rig.
Would any Aussies who don't own Raceboards be interested in chartering gear for the event?
