Gah, about 5 hours at Rye on Sunday. Hardly enough to blow out a candle. Monday drove down to Mornington pier at 1:30pm, wind didn't look that impressive so drove home and grabbed bigger gear. Rigged up and got out hoping for more wind. Wind died to nothing. Even with a 8.5m couldn't move so sat waiting in water for wind change for over an hour. Embarrassingly (but generously) a boat come over thinking I was in trouble, then their motor died so they had to get towed by another boat, but luckily a squall came in for 10mins and allowed me to get a tiny ride back in before it died again. To rub salt in the wounds I come home to find it was 15-20 knots everywhere but Mornington area. Sometimes those Northerlies are so frustrating. Hope the rest of you had a better sail.

"Rubbing salt into wounds..." would be for me to let you know that there was 5.0 - 6.0 sailing for a few hours, down at Sandy Point... on Saturday... Peak wind measured was 27kn.

lol thanks Matthew. Well I did actually get a decent 3:30pm to sunset 15-18knots on Sat arvo, so I guess the weekend wasn't a total write off. Just been hanging to get 20-30knot run. Glad to hear you got a great sail though.

What forcast were you looking at for saturday? All the forcasts I looked at were crap for saturday. You made the right call going to SP. Was it just an educated guess with the ne forcast?
