Lone sailor at pt henry today, but wow, what a day. gusting up to 40kts...i know i was way overpowered with my only sail...a 5.4, but is there anything else you guys suggest doing in really really big gusts? i just couldn't control it, let alone stay in the harness!

had some great runs once it settled down though, but broke my mast foot to end it early...

cheers

frankly windy, If your holding down a 5.4m in 40 knot gusts I think your doing alright! Only tips I can offer is;

a. put on some weight
b. get lower (more of a seated position) & hold on
c. both of the above

Did you have any issues with the weed?

weed isn't too much of an issue, especially once you're out a little, in the northerly you can head straight out so it's fine once you are 100m from shore.

it was an amusing day that's for sure! once the wind had settled down a bit!

only the obvious- buy a smaller sail and a smaller board!
