Firstly ill start off by saying its great to be back, some of you may know that i have been overseas for the past 8 months doing a back packing trip that included windsurfing in Vassiliki, Greece and Dahab, Egypt! And i have to say i still thing Australia have the best beaches!!!
Anyway!
My question is: Has anyone ever sailed Phillip Island, what directions works and where?
Ill be staying in pretty much on Cape Woolamai? if anyone knows some flat water spots or wave spots id love to know, i dont mind going for a drive either!

PI has a lot to offer. You'll love sailing at there.
I sail down there a fair bit. A mate and I often put in at San Remo (rig up either just in front of the caravan park there, or at the top carpark near Foots surf break) and sail out towards Cape Woolamai. This spot is great on a SE, but we sail it on S, SW, W, NW and N.
You need the tide to be nearing high tide to launch from the caravan pk. There are sand bars that run down the middle that get small easy waves breaking along them for a good distance. (but you need Woolamai surf beach to be 1.5 - 2m to get small waves in the San Remo channel) -They're not for your hard core wavesailor, but we have fun and you can find good, clean ramps in the right conditions, with no surfers to upset. (You can see them in Gingers google map above, if you zoom in, but not many waves on that particular day)
You might go out at Woolamai itself, or head to the Cat Bay end.
I'll also be staying at Woolamai from Wednesday and will be looking to get out. Give me a text when your' down there.
Also, Luke sailed at right point (cat bay) just the other day so you should pick his brains too.

Bondi, i was planning on staying up there for Wednesday, but ive been asked if i want to work at one of the schools for the day, and being a broke 21 year old, i pretty much had to do it to keep the NEW car running!
So ill probably be in the bay somewhere!

Before xmas I had a good sail at Woolamai in 20-25kt SE cross-shore port tack. On the falling tide the shorebreak started to get a bit nasty and persistent, so I packed up and went around the corner to Cleeland Bight (literally 2min drive). The SE hits the beach cross-on through the entrance to westernport. Pretty flat and fast, be a good freestyle spot if you are that way inclined. Rig at the only car park.
Been hanging for a turn at Cat Bay, but the wind and swell hasn't been kind. Pack a surfboard if you head there.
