Heading down to Barwon Heads for a week, next saturday and was wondering about the state of lake Commaware at the moment. Is it open or is there lots of weed growth requiring a weed fin? Sailed there during winter and really enjoyed it as it was such a change to the bay chop that I'm used to. Hope to get over to Point Henry as well as I have not been there before. Is the Barwon River sailable this time of the year or is it too packed with holiday crowds. Thanks

The Lake is beginning to really weed up with significant floating weed masses scattered around at the moment. There both a blessing and a curse as you can get some flat water in the lee of them but are becoming a hazard. Would highly recommend weed fins but at higher tides you may get away without one.

Point Henry is sailable always unless there is a mega low tide which just creates a annoyance but still sailable. Weed fin recommended again.

Barwon river is sailable but very busy this time of year (Bloody tourists!!!)

Thanks Red. Thought I might get a reply from you. Might price a weed fin.
