This time of year I head to Inverloch, cause the wind in the bay does not seem to be as consistant as winter. So I loaded up my car and headed to the coast. When I left the trees were all still with no wind around my house. When I got to Inverloch. It was blowing 15-20 knots east. There was just one windsurfer out on his own planning side ways from the inlet to the main sand bar. Then me and my brother joined him. The wind was great and a few times I even felt over powered on my 5.4 alpha wave sail. So it must of blown 25 knots a few times. The sand bars were abit of a problem. It was like sand bar city. Kept hitting me fin on them.
Hey we need more windsurfers to head down to inverloch. there was no one around. it was like a ghost town. It works best on a swestly. So the next swestly come down. It's a great beach with good wind, but windsurfing is dead in inverloch now. All ya see is a few kitesurfers and no windsurfers anymore.
so this is my second weekend of a awesome windsurf. last week end I went to hazelwood pondage. And sailed in 40+ knots in 2m chop on a lake. Hazelwood would have to be the best place I know of to windsurf and you are so far from coast it's amazing.
dont go to the inlet based on a Melbourne SW forecast, look at the local forecast or you can drive all that way for nothing.
A friend and I were at Inverloch on Sunday and played in the waves in the mouth of the inlet, seemed to be an Easterly and we were fully powered up on a 5.8 /6.2sails
I'm sure you will see old salty and the local crew out number the kitres soon.
