Well looks like we have wind forecast for both days so who is up for a sail?????

Saturday is forecast to be a northerly, so maybe either Swan Bay (out from boat ramp) or Pt Henry.

Sunday has is supposed to be NW - W so it will probably be Pt Henry.

Bring on the weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi OB64,

Where does a person rig and launch from? Right on the Point (end of Point Henry road)?

Nah not off the end. There is often a bit too much chop rolling in from the channel.

The kiters often play off the end while we want the flatter water for some speed runs.

I call it the 'western car park' others refer to it as the southern car park.

To give some perspective, you can see where it is in this next pic.

Pat, Saturday looks like Swan Bay or the barwon (low tide around midday - early arvo). Sunday ---- bring on the westerlies at the point!!!!!!!

Would prefer a look at Swan Bay. At least then I can have a decent run without hitting a sand bank. Plus no strong currents to fight when water starting.

Edit: the run from the jetty across to the sand bank is about 1.2km

I like sailing with you Pat you always point out the sand banks for me by sudden deceleration and lunging forwards onto them to make sure i'm aware - a true team player!

Sounds like a plan to me. Not sure Red will be up early given his age etc, but he can catch up when he gets there.

Thanks for the directions OB. Never expected you guys would launch from there but thinking about it makes sense. Is there much in the way of weed there?

So Sunday would be the best day (of the two) to sail Point Henry? Does the water stay reasonably flat on a NW?

There is a little weed but sailable without a weed fin. As for wind direction - NW - W is perfect for the Pt. Should be able to get 30 + knot runs there Sunday with the current forecast. Well maybe not me, but experts like Red will for sure

gotta do a few things tomorrow morning so might not get down there till 11 - But sounds like a few of the crew are in. Geoff and Ryan are keen. Haven't heard from Frant or Marcus. Just sent an sms to Tony so we may have a good turnout.
