Hey Seabreeze-goers,

I've been living, working and fishing in Melbourne for a few months now, but the long hours spent working and not catching fish have made me crave something a bit more exciting.. so I decided to give windsurfing a go. I've so far clocked 7 hours (6 hour course and 1 hour hire in sandringham) and although I haven't even been out in 10 knots, I'm hooked just by the thought of getting some speed and (one day) trying some of the epic moves I see on youtube and here on seabreeze!

At the moment I'm just going solo but I could be pretty keen to find a group around a similar level to progress with, so if you're keen give me a shout out! I will mostly be going out on weekends and on the east side of the bay.

To all the ex-newbies, I was wondering if you have any gear you want to flog off relatively cheap? I'm looking for a board between 120 and 140L (im 65-70kg) and I've been recommended to get a sail around 5m2. I've heard starboard and JP are good beginner boards, are there any other brands I should be on the lookout for? My mate recommended that I buy a new mast and boom, but I would like to try and get a complete set up for under 1.5k. Do you guys think this is possible? And do you also agree about buying a new mast and boom?

Hope to be ripping it up with you all soon!

Felix

Wouldn't worry about new boom and mast at the level you're at. Better to get a second sail so you can spend more time on the water with a larger wind range.

Agree with 0709.
And have you checked out Windsurfing Victoria yet? Heaps of fun sailing, Stephen, Cologne and All are great.
