OK time to get serious about this stuck mast of mine... I have given up.
The Mast is at the ZU in Melbourne and there is a Slab in it for anyone that can get it apart (without breaking it).
This is the "King Arthur's sword" of stuck masts, so you get it apart and you will get a slab, and become the unofficial king of mast separation.
Rock up at the Zu and tell them you want to have a go at separating Jez's mast.
Good Luck, might be an easy slab for some one with a good technique!!!
I still think Adam can do it, but he doesn't read Seabreeze and drink beer. Maybe If I can get Adam to do it, then I will drink the beer.
Have you tried putting a boom on the top and bottom section either side of the join and twisting? Add a bit of water also helps.
my tip -> WD40. I then throw mine into the fork of a supple green looking fruit tree branch and pull. works every time.
Jez - Bring it to SHQ and I will get it apart without damaging it - I've never found a mast I couldn't seperate!
I'm the king of stuck masts, my tips: two people holding it; one at the tip the other at the base seems to create plenty of torque to twist it, otherwise two booms, nice and far apart. er... let me rephrase that: Im the king of getting masts stuck, had one stuck for three months once but eventually got it out
Well I just got a call from Paul at the ZU saying that its well and truely stuck, and because this has never seen anything like this they are just going to give me another Mast and use my one for a demo.
I guess they win the slab too!!!
+1 for customer service.
Went to the Zu today to pick up my replacement mast for the one that was stuck, and the guys there said that Severne themselves said that the 2 year guarantee holds... EVEN IF ITS STUCK!!!!
Never the less I will be making sure the joint is clear from now on.
