Hey guys, need some advice. I'm 6'4" and to get the boom at the right height for me to get back in the footstraps it ends up at an uncomfortable angle. Is it o.k to set the boom so it's level and raise my mast extention to get the desired height? I've been told it's not the correct thing to do but would be interested to know if anyone sails this way and what the disadvantages are from doing this. I used to set up this way years ago for short boards but all the equipment has changed so much I'm assuming the dynamics are totally different.

Give us a spell kernso, The Great Man (Bjorn Dunkerbeck) is taller than you, and he seems to manage just fine. Suck it up princess

On a serious note, you may benefit from the sails that have 2 options at the clew allowing you to choose the higher eyelet.

O.K. just saw some footage of Mr Bjorn Doppleganger and it looks like I'll just have to stop being such a soft coque!

I know what you're talking about (6'3"). I have the boom at the top of the luff cutout on a couple of my sails, and it's still about 100mm short of where I'd prefer it, whereas some other cutouts have room to spare...regardless of what the great windsurfers do, I like my boom high so I can put mastfoot pressure downwards via the harness, not outwards (fin slippage).

Besides, Bjorn and most other pros would have everything custom-made...don't use them as examples! The idea of windsurfing is to enjoy it.

Thanks Scott, I'll just keep making adjustments until it feels right.
