So the SW winds and the coppy bay are getting a bit much for the 130l to cope with so I need to switch down to something smaller.
I can waterstart OK but still have catapult and stability issues with smaller boards which tend to get tiresome.
Looking for a suggestion for a next board.
Weight: 85kg Post-poo
Height: 180cm
I have been suggested a FS or FSW at around the 98l mark. Which sounds about right.
The only board that i have sailed comfortably below 130L was 110L, so hoping that the difference between the two will not be too grand.
Definitly prefer the 3 strap as apposed to 4 strap position.
So what do you think?
The biggest issue is finding these boards. Found one a couple of days ago - SOLD. Another one the other day - SOLD.
Any one wanting to offload a FSW or FS?
I've got a FS for sale on seabreeze, its 90 litres so a bit smaller than you are looking at but its a gem to ride. Being a Freestyle board I think you may be surprised at how good they are to sail. (The volume compressed into a shorter board makes them much more user friendly than the same volume in a FSW IMO)
You're welcome to take it out for a sail to try... but catapult into the nose and you've bought it ![]()
jeraldman, I'm prob an 'intermediate' with my main sailing being bump/jump & flatwater blasting. My main board is the same volume as my weight, and as long as there is enough wind...it's perfect. I also get on my 135lt board occasionally, but find that I can't stay on the water for as long, and end up sore afterwards.
If you go down to 85-90lts your waterstarts will improve, and too many catapults can be contributed to harness line setup & stance. I found that the smaller board helped me improve my technique. At 110kgs, the smallest board I've had the pleasure of riding was 80lts with a 4.2 sail...was blowing a constant 30kts+ on the Pt Fairy Loch & if we had enough consistent wind around here, that would be my board of choice!![]()
Hey Jez,
we've got 3 boards here that could your needs.
1 x FS, 1 x FW, 1 x FR.
All around the $800 mark and in ec.![]()
Thanks to everyone for your suggestions and offers.
I have narrowed it down to about 3 boards and am testing them out this weekend.
I must say that I am really impressed with peoples willingness to give advice and help a brother out.
I got texted and sent PMs with heaps of great offers and options as well as given good advice. I have only been windsurfing of a couple of years and I have never been part of a more selfless and helpful comunity of people and stores. This is part of the reason I continue to love and get involved with this sport.
(its either that or you all want to sell me your lemons;)
BIG +++1 for the Windsurfing community!!! We are not as big as some but the feeling of family is something that we have over the other watersports.
Thanks Again!
