I went for a sail at williamstown beach around 3pm - I dont have small enough sails for the mornings wind strength.
A mate went out earlier on a 80 liter slalom board and 5m racing sail - and looked overpowered.
I rigged a 5.5 on a 110L board - wind looked west from the beach but once I got out there it was more W-NW which is kind of cross-offshore and dodgy. Pretty gusty!
Yep,Sandy point 30kts to oooh crap thats alot of wind WNW. Shut down completly by the time the tide was right to go fast. All had fun except Daffy who arrived late when the wind was fading fast.
Hi guys, First post here.
Went for a look at Point Henry near Geelong. Only learning on the sailboard for 5 months now so I didn't give it a go. Because yesterday in 15 to 20 knots I went alright for my first time with a harness and spent 4 hours out there. Little bruised and battered as 1 of my beach starts saw my board cork my leg and left a large blue reminder there that I am still a noob.
Nearest weather station (Avalon) was recording mid 30's peaking at 41 knots, beautifull to watch and I saw 4 sailboarders and a couple of kiters head out from the 2 parking spots. 1 of them said he recorded 24 knots on his GPS, I saw he was on a starboard 155 lt 4.7m sail.
Really looking forward to having some more more harness time and taking on a 40 knot day.
