Hi guys how goes it down in ole cold southern tas?

Jane and I finally made the WA coast, had a quick sail at 80 mile beach water was warm and milky colour cause of the reefs, not much fun too gusty and the long shore current meant Jane had to drive down the beach to pick me up, just no way you could gain ground upwind.

Now at Exmouth, its oh so good, air temperature around 28 degrees, only wear boardshorts, sailed at a place called Sandy Bay (would you believe it). 15 to 18 knots of wind SW direction crystal clear water

Sailed about a K offshore to the edge of the reef then big blasting downwind rides back to the beach.

This is on the seaward side of the gulf, in the national park no one else out except for guys fishing and Jane in the kayak.

Definite surf on the outside reefs but hard to tell how shallow the reef is and its an ffn long way out

Wish some of you guys were here, it would be a real blast

Anyway boys its was great to hit the water even if it is flat, will check out other places as we wihile away the warm balmy days,

Next stop Carnarvon to get to Red Bluff, probably scare the shi...... out me.

Hey Rob sounds like you're having a ball.

Red Bluff is the best surfing spot but as far as I know it's no good for sailing, go a few Kms further to Gnaraloo camping ground, the sailing spot is about one km south of that.
You HAVE to sail there you can't come home usless you do.

It's actualy not that hard as it's a reef break and pretty easy to get out. Like all big waves it only gets big right on the break zone, if you drop in early it can be pretty tame. As you gain confidence you'll go in deeper on the wave and if you're like me you'll get drilled but in 9 days sailing and approx 20 drills per day I came out unscathed

Exmouth was my fav spot in W.A did u get to check out graveyards its right near the national park nice mellow waves to play on spent a month there wish i could of spent more i tried going to Gnarloo in van but turned around half way because it didn't sound like my van was going to make it enjoy the rest of your trip hope u get some sailing Lancelins just out of Perth a great spot and Coranation bech in Geralton great camp spot to you have already probably been there
