Below is the Circuit Guide for the upcoming season. There are dates left blank in some months. If there is a particular event someone would like to run on any of those dates please contact me via pm.

Another post will be put up in coming days that will direct you to the Windsurfing Tasmania membership form.

I have an event for the 1-2 of November - The RYCT showdown. It'll be a course racing event, we are going to have a squad of techno's on the water but if you can sail upwind and downwind then come along and join in. I can provide more info to any who are interested.

Good to see the Port Sorell "downwinder"

How about a "downwinder"/ocean run Swansea to Coles Bay for when a southerly comes through.

Less than 2 hours drive from either Launceston or Hobart (or St Helens, Iceman!).

If there is a good looking weekend for it I'll post it anyway.

How do the GPS competitions work? Would be keen to get along to some, but was wondering how it happens..?

Its the 5 gps catagories combined on one day, not distance. You ad all your scores together to get a total number of points. Whoever has the highest total wins. Not sure if this counts towards the overall slalom comp or not.

Thanks for clearing that up! Sounds like good fun! But is that your best results in the 5 categories over the two days, or is one day chosen and you just sail that one?

The actual way the GPS 5 is run will depend on the conditions forecast and how much effort the results recorder can be bothered doing.
There are three possible scenarios. As this is the first year of GPS5 it will be good to try the different options.
1/ One day is set and only that day counts.
2/ Two days are set and only the best day is counted.
3/ two days are set and the best result from each category is used to calculate the total.

Option 3 gives the opportunity to 'target' specific categories on each day depending on wind. This means that you could go for NM and 1HR at South Arm on Saturday and head to Stanley on the Sunday to go for 2sec, 5x10 and Alpha.
Option 3 also creates the most work in tallying the results but gives the greatest opportunity to competitors to get high results.

I think it should be called the Tour of Tasmania, sounds like lot's of driving if your keen, more driving than sailing.

We have 5 bic techno's entered, should be a great regatta! I am going to make a thread to let everyone know how it goes, there is some close racing expected. The entrants are myself, Morgan Davies, Angus Calvert, Fergus Charles and Liam Virtue.

Saturday afternoon looks like a possibility for the Devonport to Port Sorrell downwinder. Any chance this weekend?

With the offshore in the morning, and rising tide after lunch, it could provide good smooth conditions if the wind comes in as predicted.

I'll have to renew my WT membership in the meantime.

If you call 10-15 with plenty of rain good, then yes it's going to be excellent!

north of the state looks like a sunny weekend, luckily we are headed north for a regatta at deviot...
