Well folks, it's that time of the year again. It's Dash for Cash time. I have been in contact with the Sandy Bay Regatta Association and they are going to give a minimum of $300. We will have 1st place $150, 2nd place $100 and 3rd place $50. If we get any more money from SBRA we will do lucky door prizes. The 1st 3 place getters will not be eligible for the lucky door prize. This year we are going to use all the entry fee money on alcohol (beer, bundy, Wild Turkey), soft drink and gourmet sausages in bread. I will bring along a webber. We no longer have access to the pavilion (no pies or beers) so thats why we are doing our own catering. Briefing 2pm. Start time 3pm.
Bring your gear, $10 entry fee and buoyancy vest.
Cheers
Steve Charles

I just spoke to the Sandy Bay Regatta committee. They are going to increase the prize money from $300 to $500. So we will now have: 1st $200, 2nd $150, 3rd $100, 4th $50.

Hoping to enter for the first time this year. Any prize for last place? With Houston sitting it out the wooden spoon may be within my reach :D].

Yes the forecast is s**t. Best we can hope for is a seabreeze. If there is some wind I am sure there will be some some long boards that can get going. We will still do barbie, beers, bundy and burbon (bbbb).

Great afternoon the wind kicked in just in time to give everyone a flying start.

Well done Steve for organising the day and thanks for the beer and sausages.

Tim just imagine if I was in the race you wouldn't have come last

Mission accomplished (and very happy with the wooden spoon prize of a pair of new harness lines)!

So who won, who didn't win, who ate the most sausages?
We need the full story! The big issues!
Houston's photos?
Or are you all still down there drinking?

Well done Steve for taking the win, followed by Will, Brendon and then Stewart, I think. No wind before the start and then a puff from the SW saw the fleet all plane off toward the eastern shore where they could choose between one of two marks to go around. Steve planed the whole way and finished within 15 minutes. Great to watch and a good crowd on the shore watched the whole race! Beer and sausages afterwards - great event yet again! A big congratulations to Tim and Fergus who sailed their first dash for cash and to everyone else that entered.

It turned out ok wind wise. I got there at around 12pm and the wind was cranking in at about 20 knots cross offshore W/SW. Only problem was there was no wind at the start line and the wind line was about 500mts away. At around 2pm the wind had dropped off to around 10-15 knots. We only had 10 entries for the 3pm start because the wind was so dodgy. By 3pm it was still 10-15 knots with no wind at the start line and the wind line half a km away. Most of the fleet was formula with a couple of long boards and a lone slalom board. As the start got under way there was no wind but about 100 mts out 1 big gust came through. I was lucky enough to get this gust and shot out to the wind line. The wind was up and down with some big wind shifts, not the greatest conditons but at least we got some wind. Thanks to the Sandy Bay Regatta Committee/association and everyone who turned up.

Bruno 3rd formula
Stewie 4th formula

Well done everyone. Big well done Steve, you put lot's of effort into organising it and it all paid off for you this year.
Sorry I didn't stick around, I was pretty keen for a sail somewhere so fled back to Dorans only to get rigged up and the wind dropped out.

I think everyone would of rather been sailing at Dorans.

Need to hang around next time as the\re were only 9 guys in the race... lowest number in years.

Kazz the conditions would of been perfect for you in the end

We don,t want to loose it.

One gets slightly put off when 10's, 11's & 12 metre sails are being rigged in front of them and a totally offshore wind If the conditions aren't right for the gear you have, it's a long way over and back!
