I am planning a longboard coast run if anyone is keen. Saturday afternoon looks good for wind, tides and sea conditions.

East Beach to Beechford looks good mid afternoon. Otherwise Badgers Head to Kelso is an option.

For anyone who wants a shorter run to try it out any time, there is the run from Lagoon Beach out around the lighthouse and in to East Beach. From the old Surf Club site at East Beach it is a 10 minute walk along the road back to Lagoon Beach car park.

Don't give up Clarence... we will absolutely come with you on one of these adventures!
I'm really keen, just the timing isn't right.

You're a bold man on all that old gear, I hope for your sake one of us is around if something ever fails you.

Come on, its not that old!

I lost a sail and mast on my last ocean run to Beechford earlier this year (it's a long story that started as a small tear in a monofilm sail), and have some new ones to replace it. The boom lives on to sail another day.

If there was something as tough and reliable as the mistral one design race board I'd buy one tomorrow.

Modern carbon-lightweight gear has its limits, as Old Man Steve had the misfortune of finding out today.

Made it from East Beach to Beechford no problem today. Wind was a little lighter than expected. The high tide and low swell made clearing all the reefs and points a piece of cake.

Let me know whenever you guys are keen to come along.

Bummer Steve. Don't suppose there is a photo of the wreckage? Part of learning the sport I'm afraid. I've often thought that the best way to break in a new board is to get a hammer and put a neat hole in the bow. You are going to do it one day anyway you may as well get it out of the way.

Looks really bad but should be able to fix it up as good as new. This was my brand new $300 (retail) fin after the first 50 metres. Hit an oyster bed, these things happen.

This afternoon looking good for Badgers Beach to Kelso or similar. Tomorrow midday is also an option.

For those who are not going wavesailing, I'm planning a coast run Ulverstone to Devonport or similar tomorrow am, will check forecast tonight. That stretch of coastline is all fairly well populated and not too rugged, and it should be cross-onshore/broad reaching conditions. If the wind stays offshore tonight, could be nice smooth ocean conditions early in the day tomorrow.

I had a good run from shacks at Badgers Head over to Bakers Beach and back to Kelso two weekends ago. 40 odd km of open ocean sailing.

Also did the loop around the Low Head lighthouse from Lagoon Beach to East Beach last weekend after a big session in the river. Took less than 45 mintues.
