Where have all the Westerlys gone , two days of blasting colder southerly wind and the tomatoes will be cranky again

Its all going to be pretty onshore stuff Felix. Starboard jumping and backside wave riding. IMO its nothing I'd call decent wave sailing. You might be better off trying the east coast area.

swell was knee high this afternoon so with wind south and moderate swell tomorrow it should be good.

The only issue there is that Little Swanport in primarily a left hander and would need a lot of west in it to be sailable. You can sail port tack in a S-SE but the right is pretty much a quick face that closes down and dies out(although on rare occasions it can break ok). With wind forecast SW- SE it can be a bit of a gamble as it can tend to just funnel out the lagoon mouth offshore. There are other options close by that may be pumping.

so far Brett, Ant and myself.
Leaving Lauderdale at 10 ish. first check point Little swanport, most likely sail further North.

make sure u blokes don't end up bump and jumping in bay or riding a close out beach break.

Lisdillon is a great set up, the wind was a pretty consistent southerly which is a perfect direction but needs a bigger swell, the larger sets just started breaking on the point but not enough to get a decent ride. The sea was smooth very little chop on the lee of the point. Had a quick 40min sail and headed down to Little Swan Port.

Lisdillon ideal conditions: strong southerly, bigger swell maybe another 2m to get the point working well.


Again needs more swell and the southerly was too off shore plus the wind was blocked by the hill, definitely needs a south easterly. Again smooth and worth another try with the right wind. The guys really struggled planning and wind blew them off the back of the waves.

Little Swan Port ideal conditions: strong southeasterly, bigger swell maybe another 1-2m


Decided a last ditch attempt at Hermitage on the way home not expecting much but got a nice surprise. Sea was pretty smooth, wind pretty gusty as expected coming off the land but southerly was cross off which made it perfect angle for down the line. Best spot was right on the reef with waves a reasonable size and very forgiving so long as you kept away from the shore break. Pretty fun and easy, would be better again with another metre on top but easily the best we've ever sailed it before on the northerlies.

This trip really opened up the options for the SE Coast for some excellent down the line riding

Why not go back up the coast now the swell has picked up.
