I arrived at Bell Buoy around midday on Saturday to find the car park almost full and a fair bit of gear already rigged up. A few showers were blowing through and the wind was a bit up and down so I wasn't surprised to find nearly everyone on the beach waiting for the westerly to settle and the tide to drop a bit. The forecast was for a solid westerly all afternoon easing towards evening.

I did a bit of filming from the beach as Felix was out making the most of the conditions. After about thirty minutes the sky cleared a bit so I rigged a 4.5 and headed out and got slammed as the wind picked up to well over 30 knots and a bit of hail pelted down.

This became the pattern for the afternoon as the wind would ease for 10 minutes then clock back in. The swell never really built up much but around the middle of the afternoon the wind swung cross off and eased to about 10 knots.
