Hi Folks,

could anyone already test the new Z-fins ZFS fin?
I wonder how they would compare to F-hot (interested) or Hurricane (currently used) in iSonics. (107+127, rider with 88kg)
Here is a first pic of the new fin

saw a lot of the top guys using them particularly in the bigger sizes last year when i was OS.
haven't tried one myself though, think they are pretty exy.

My opinion is they are the best slalom fins for racing on the market... even the old model ...

The new outline comes from the formula models; has been around for 12 months but I think it's relatively new in slalom as I didn't see anyone with the new outline on the PWA last year except for Arnon Dagan (who is developing the Z-Fins). Main differences are a reduced tip area and there's a bit of a curve on the trailing edge ... also they are now made in pre-preg carbon so are a bit lighter + more responsive.

That's made a HUGE difference in the formula fins to speed, but maybe it's not as noticeable in the slalom sizes?

Have you tried them both together to compare Shinobi? Be interesting to know ... I don't have the ZF and the Z (old model) in the same size to compare directly.

Hi Sean, no chance to try one yet. That said, I only tried a Z-fin once.
Maybe two of these fins arrived on the island this month and some pros are testing.
From what I understand, the fin must be quit different compared to the standard type and require a trim adjustment of the rig and board.
Some say it is made for flat water, some say it more easier to control in rough conditions because it is thinner and softer.

Have you tried one yet? What is your feel?

Hi Anders,
I hope you have enough wind to enjoy testing the fins.

In general, the stiff carbon slalom fins like Z-fins and Hurricane are the best all-round. G10 fins like C3 Sting II are almost as good for both slalom/upwind and downwind speed. BPF Type RS is more loose speedfin, and depends very much on the board. A sensible board, the fin lose the grip both upwind and in choppy downwind. Still I will give them more chances. But C3 Venom does still the job well and MXR also. Then we had some protos also, very promising!

Anders,
Have you, maybe, had a chance to compare Z-fins with Vector Volt Carbon?
