I have a Fanatic Blast 100 but it gets rough when I go to a 5.0 sail. Would the Fox 95 be a good step down? I have a JP Freewave 93 but I prefer the freeride stuff.

Thanks, I ride on the lakes near Dallas, TX.

Gary.

sorry, i cant help you - but the blast 100 interest me

when you say gets rough - you mean bouncing around etc due to too much volume and area ?

try putting the mast track forward slightly, the straps inboard more and using a smaller fin....should calm it down a bit.

Tabou 3s are great boards for those conditions too...

100 to 95 is a pretty small increment. Is it worth trying a smaller fin when it blows? A much cheaper option that might do the job. Or setting up your freewave with a more freeride-y fin?

That said I love my Fox 95 and in over 20 knots, especially in rough stuff, its brilliant, but you'd have a quiver that is very close together. I'd try different fins first before looking at a new board.

Having used blast 100 and fox 105, i can say fox feels more lively compared to blast with similar comfort over chop.
If you want more freeride feel i think you will get opposite with fox 95. But still maybe easier if you have waves at the lake.

Thanks for the feedback, smaller fin it is. I just ordered and MFC Liquid Pro 32, the stock fin was a 34.

and if that doesn't solve it the smaller fin will fit the new board you get!!!

One can never have enough boards. Whatever the size...
I think you should also get the Fox

That's a small reduction in fin size, you may not see a big improvement. With a 5m, I'd be thinking more 28 - 30cm

Yep, and something with a little sweep in the tip of the fin for better gybing in rough conditions.

Next step down is 85 litres, surely. Ideal with a 5.0.
