Hi,

I'm trying to decide whether to go with a 6.7 NP Hornet (2016) or a 6.5 Severne Turbo (2016). I currently have some masts that work with NP sails, so to get the Severne i'd have to change gear and get a new mast to match.

Can anyone give me an idea of the pros and cons of each? A lot of crew use Severne around where i sail so they must be decent, but on the other hand i like the idea of something a little different than the same sail everyone else is using, so am thinking of going with the NP. I'm just looking for a bit of extra info from those in the know to help me decide.

Don't know about the Turbe vs Hornet but in the wave sail range Severne sails are significantly lighter then NP.

The mast issue though is something to consider. Do you plan on having spare masts? Are you planning on buying a different size sail in the same range? Given the high price of quality carbon masts I blieve this is the biggest hurdle for people switching between brands.

I already have three masts, two of which I use regularly and they are NP or NP compatible, however, one of them is an older wave mast, so i may have to buy a more updated mast that suits free-ride sails. This means i'm kind of in the same situation either way. If i go severne i'll need a new mast, and probably the same for NP.

I'm looking for input from anyone who has used either model to give an insight on the characteristics of them to see if i can be swayed either way.

Yeah mate, ive used it in about 4 sessions now. Saturday it was blowing a fair bit and was a bit twitchy on manufacturer settings, but after i added a bit more downhaul, she went like a fricken bullet.. :D

At Applecross?Which board are you on too?
Look out for Adam on a new 2017 NP Hellcat & Rocket 125.
post how she goes, Im on 2017 Hellcats but considering an 2016 Hornet 8.2 for RB.
