I've been funemployed (to use your term) for six weeks now. It always amazes me how many people are out sailing on a weekday. About eight today at Currumbin. Twelve on a Shearwater Wednesday a few weeks back. There is actually less parking at the train on a weekday, same for any shopping centre.

DON'T ASK ME ABOUT TODAY AT CURRUMBIN. Possibly my worst sail ever. No, it definitely was now I think of it. Good swim though and funny in retrospect, but I was ready to pack it in entirely (like go kiting) after 60+ minutes of drowning in the great washing machine. I'm not sure I even sailed at all. Finished when my UJ broke, which reminds me...

Dear Neil Pryde,
Your swim savers use line, whose purpose in life is to keep a rig attached to a board, most likely in surf, that is thinner than the line you use to close up a mast bag. What the story there, man?

PS I'm fine with the UJ breaking long after my spirit did, not bad at all, but I'm going back to Chinook for a number of reasons. I still love your sails.

PPS No I'm not going kiting. I actually learnt a lot today. Eye of the tiger, man.

PPPS Had to check it was a weekday before posting this reply.

Evlpanda - maybe you getting washed in with broken gear between the flags was why the clubbie got angry at me later on? Try to take a little more care please

Wouldn't feel too bad about having a bad day - conditions are pretty tough with slightly marginal wind, on-cross-on direction, ultrashort period swell which was relatively big and lots of currents.

Yes, I had a crap sail at Currumbin today too.
Rigged poorly, as mast separated a little, and I probably pulled on to much downhaul
Swell was a bitch, couldn't get out the back, plugged through the washing machine twice dodging bluebottles, then quit.
On the bright side, didn't break any gear, didn't get stung, didn't get yelled at by a clubbie, so I can't complain too much.
Forecast looks crap for the next week, never mind.
Merry Xmas to all, please arrange a low for the New Year.

Just my luck, free weekend windsurf pass and no wind. Ok big board and small sail, time to practise those non planing moves.

Nah, that was me actually pulling short of the flags each time, unlike a few others - cough cough.

The flags were right in the way though, seems to happen more often than not doesn't it? Clubbies should be more considerate, although they did send down an attractive female to keep watch at least. That was nice of them.

Currents were great fun, there was a nice, big swirl going out from the beach to the impact zone/permanent hole in the wind and back. I did quiet a few laps. Thoroughly cleaned and rinsed by the end of it.

I had a really nice swim though. Water there is always perfect. Even bad is good sometimes

Ahhhhh... That's better. A top bit of sailing before the rain.
