HI Md74

What was mermaid like?

I went to narrowneck on friday pm and again today. Very few ramps and no wave rides as the waves weren't breaking properly on the outer bank. All in all pretty bad.

Especially as I snapped a 6 month old board on friday afternoon

Is the bank any shallower at mermaid? I would have thought it would be a bit too onshore as well.

Not to mention there wasn't enough wind at Narrowneck Martin (well enough to get my excess winter layers going)

Mermaid on Sat was the goods- loads of room on the inside to get planing with small pitching ramps out the back. It was mid tide and the wind was consistant cross onshore. Good times

This will be my haunt most of summer as i live only a block away, might see you there.

well there's no question it is better than narrowneck/spit. I stopped and had a look at marina mirage car park before coming down. only random waves breaking on the outer sand bar.

Mermaid was much better, only about 3/4 of an hour of really good wind with the 5.5 but still lots of fun and hardly any teabags around too!

yeah no crowds! very enjoyable, no jet boats or jet skis to contend with, just the occassional hot chick in a bikini frolicking in the surf!
