Hi there
I am a Windsurfer from Europe. I surf mostly in Danmark and Germany. Now, I moved to the Gold Coast for a study abroad.I am in search for some people who go windsurfing at the gold coast or in brisbane...

Would be great to get in touch with some locals here..I didn´t see any windsurfers at the beach, yet!!! Just 2-3 Kitesurfer.

Greetings

Sören

All depends on what type of sailing, flat water or surf, I love the surf so normally I will sail at Currumbin or Nobbies, we also drive down to Cudgen and flat rock for wave sailing.

This weekend is and next week is looking great for Currumbin if the wind is blowing from the south east there will be heaps of windsurfers heading to the bin, I will defiantly be sailing the bin.

Hi There
Welcome! If you are into Freeride/flat water/slalom then there are a bunch of us that sail on the broadwater. You should stop in at SurfFX and have a chat to the staff as they are really helpful. Depending on what you're into Shearwater Esplanade (best in SE SSE directions) in runway way is sailable (for depth) in any tide and there are usually a bunch of friendly enthusiastic sailors "floating around". Otherwise you should run into people down at Central Street in Labrador (from where you can access two other regular spots, "The Train" and "The KFC" both within sailing distance of Central). Most of the Broadwater spots are within 5/10 minutes drive of each other.
See you around

I am neither a real freestyler nor a real waverider. It´s just a thing in between. I used to ride one 80l waveboard and one 100l freeride board with 4,7/5,3/6,4 m² Sails. I never get in touch to slalom or race because the sailing sizes are 12 m²+, which isn´t pretty handy in my opinion.

I will go to surffx the next days. I arrived two weeks ago in Australia so I don´t have a car or windsurfgear, yet.

So thank you very much for your help =)

I hope to go windsurfing as soon as possible!!!

Renamed Hollywell to Panda Bay ; )

P.S. I don't know when/if I'm coming back. Sydney isn't half as aesthetic as the Gold Coast. Missing the warm, clean water, lack of traffic, easy parking (I rarely locked my car), good rigging spots, and golden sand banks. And being 20 minutes from being on the water at any time. Adios for now.

Excellent description of the the sailing areas on the broadwater and i agree with all of them except for the short runs at KFC. They are very short in all directions except for the "NE" wind run which is quite long if you run along the bottom of the sand bank instead of straight across to the sandbank. On a true NE you can do this run on nearly any tide. Be careful on 0.2 tide or lower if your using a 30cm fin or bigger.
Other than that very good and accurate info.

Thanks a lot for your support guys!

I went to surffx and they gave me the number of "Kirk". I tried to call him today, but there was only his voicemail.

Would anyone of you guys take me with you next time you go windsurfing on the gold coast ? I just missed out one more good day on the water today...

Hi Kalle.

Can you tell us where you are on the gold coast? Do you have equipment?

If you don't get many responses, it's not because no one is interested in helping, it's mainly because most of the people who manage to sail during the week have slipped away from work for a couple of hours and may have limited time - it would probably be difficult for most people to pick someone up and still have time to sail while the wind is there.

The wind is a bit unpredictable in SE queensland and you need to get it while it's there (be ready to go at the drop of a hat) and be happy with a couple of hours of okay wind. If you can do this, you can usually sail a few times per week, maybe more.

11am to 4pm is generally the strongest wind for the day

Yeah..It´s always pretty difficult to combine work and windsurfing. Everybody has to deal with it except you are a Pro ;)

I am located in Surfers Paradise and ready to surf from Thursday to Sunday. But I can go by bus nearly everywhere here.

I didn´t bought equipment yet because I don´t have a car and I was told that the Windsurfseason will end in April.

my mobile is 0402845307. Just for the case somebody is spontaneous ;)

Greetings Sören
