not quite sure how chairman didnt cross paths with any whales, there has been plenty around right about where he was gybing! even closer to the shore actually.

Just to paint a picture for others, Chairman and i were greated upon our arrival to the beach by a gorgeous pair of girls in Brazilian stlye bikinis sunning themselves, then frolicking freely in the gutter formed along the beach, ahhhhhhhh, nearly as good as the train! right chairman?

What a great arvo, chairman nearly came back with a Kiwi accent he was out in the deep for so long, your nuts are bigger than mine mate!

By the way it also a requirement for any others to join us at Mermaid to bring their last 6 bank statements please. (private joke that im sure someone reading this will chuckle about)

Frolicking, like handstands and stuff?

Currumbin was good, although a little too onshore for my liking.

your right evil, the alley is too onshore, can be fun, nothing like blasting out straight through the waves though heading into the deep blue, thats why I prefer the open beaches. However the alley does offer that protective feeling that you are always parrallel to the shore line, maybe thats why it so popular? someone was out off Miami this arvo as well.

evl, Currumbin will be good for getting those jumps dialed in a NE though, Lots of ramps all the way out.

Currumbin feels safe. Clear water, little bay, pretty shallow, lots of banks.

Dead onshore is much, much harder for me than side or cross. especially if i fall in, I'm finding just as I'm about to get in the straps the next wave hits me, turns me downwind and - catapult. I've never catapulted as much as I did yesterday.

I found cross/side shore easy peasy japanesey in comparison. Step on, blast out, woohoo!

Still, the few good runs I had at Currumbin, blasting across swell, picking out little jumps, was awesome fun.

If anyone else is thinking of trying the surf it is easier than you may think, and a real rush. I recommend cross-onshore though.

I'd love to try some cross offshore, right handers one day (today???). I'm always surfing switch-foot and backhand, which is just plain weird.
