so what is going on?? - yesterday(5/04) train was no good as wind to far west - tried to shoot up to Jennifer ave - huge traffic Jam at about the Grand??? so gave up and had a go at the grand - not bad - nice deep bank for a sw, can get inside 1m of beachline for some very fast runs - questions for sonic - is that little strip of grass where people rig? do people get a ticket if they parkin the boat parks( a windsurfer is a boat??) there seems to be a reef towards the main chanel - does that come out at dead low (ie is it best then?) - I presume it is safer on an inwards tide? - is the wind more consistent/better direction at Jennifer ave in those conditions? the two saving graces are that the wind compresses against the buildings at the west end - so you can gybe & get going again - and the wind seems to rush down the shipping chanel at the east end so same
I like the Grand a lot, great bank to run along. But yeah, not much rigging area. Not sure about parking in a designated trailer area, boaties can get very agro about that type of stuff. Could be treacherous on an outgoing tide if you broke something, as you'd go out to sea.
There are road works along Marine Parade, expect 20 minute delays. Best to drive inland one major street if travelling north/south (it's all a grid).
Had *great* sail at Shearwater. 40 minutes and dry hair. I timed runs to each side at approx 1 minute, so that's a lot of gybes in a row, quite a few planing. Oversheeting some, powered through others, progress feels good. Do'nt mean to brag but
. I think it was the 20 minute cat-nap I had just before.
