I've never sailed in an easterly so I'm wondering what are some good spots. I live in Brisbane so I'm thinking shorncliffe/redcliffe, kfc, shearwater or somewhere else in Brisbane. What would be good for a bit of flat water/ bump and jump?
suttons at redcliffe![]()
only if its a true easterly even with a slight bit of north in it, sail from in front of the life savers club at the bottom of anzac avenue, hopefully i can get out fri, but definitely sat![]()
Might be difficult getting into wello on sat as there will be restrictions on access to wello on Australia day.
Fun Police will be there![]()
bugger, ![]()
the whole flood thing is in the back of my mind also. (if it happens that is)
would kill to be blowing 30+ and not be able to get to the water. if it floods i've got buckleys of getting to wello.
or redcliffe.
love suttons in an easterly too. blasting for kilometers parallel to the shore. can be a bit light though as the wind lifts over the ridge.
lol. usually does.
my local is pretty nice in an ese also. won't say as good as wello but nice direction into the swell.
Could you go Wello on the western side? And what about the tide on the eastern side, I thought there was a sandbank there???
yeah you can, it's flat as in an easterly and plenty of people will be sailing there.
down side is it's dead offshore from the bank so don't break anything.
the eastern side of the bank at high tide is fantastic also. just not flat.
Golden beach, Maroochy river mouth,Noojar rd Maroochy river , lake weyba all the Sunshine Coast work or flatish water sailing Sunshine Coast,...Elliot heads Bundy also works well in East.
im keen to go to wello this arvo i noticed its a high tide this morning which i guess will go over the sand bank . How low does the tide have to be for the sand bank to come up ?
Sailed their yesterday - eastern and western sides and bank exposed about an hour or two after high tide. I was in the water about 11am or just after. High tide was 9:10am. Big walk in a low tide. Car park may be your issue though depending on day trippers, but this weather may reduce that!!!
Hope this helps. Cheers
