YES we are! Wello sounds fine for me. Does anyone ever went up to Bellara? On WW Justin reports: "The water at the launch area is crystal clear and the sand vivid white."

Hmmm ... gooooood stuff!

I am be thinking Kirra, or Currumbin after a very important appointment I have at 9 (a haircut and coffee), although I am a little concerned about a rising swell, low tide and my own inexperience. Maybe I'll bring a boogie board and tube ride instead.

Flatwater I think NNW might actually be OK at northern end of Le Train, looking at Googley maps (even though I've noticed Maps are Mercator so turn everything in SEQ about 10 degrees clockwise).
The Grand, very underrated, also works on this direction.

I've earned a sail.
HAve moved [i]everything[/] in the office in prep for a cupboard to come out tomorrow. Nice little surprise from my lovely little wife (she is though). removed all contents of large bookshelf, moved, placed all back in. Moved lounge and fn piano to other room. All this after I'd finished a few beers too - "btw, guy is coming tomorrow to knock down walls, so we better move stuff tonight".

Wello was on and going until 5

I got there at 230ish, and was great from then until 5. Heard that it was cranking and people out since about 9!

Although... I saw someone taking a photo, just as I had a mishap with a crash and my shorts not going back into place LOL

It was great until you got there.

on another note: I am bored of going in a straight line.

top weekend nice relaxin 6 hours on the bigger kit sat, and 2 on sun. did a bit of swimming in the lulls cause i was on the 75L board, but had a ball anyway. specially when i ditched the crowd and went to sail on the choppy side, some nice ramps. pity had to work in the afternoon, didn't see that westerly coming.

had a bit of a collision with a kiter on saturday too. was probably a bit more then 10m downwind going in the opposite direction to him, was plenty of space, thought he was gonna lift his kite, but he kept his kite pretty low, musta been blind or something. anyway, raked the sail back, and heard a twang, i think his lines hit the top third of my mast . Got past fine, turned around, his kite had crashed, and he was in the water. Tacked and went to see if he was okay, but didn't get a response, he had earplugs in, but seemed to be 'happily' relaunching, so kept sailing.

anyone who knows much about kiting wanna explain that? i've seen kiters do S patterns with their kites to get power. but why keep the kite down low? isn't the wind usually better 10m+ off the ground?

Ahh what a moron => the kiter.

I don't know who it was, and I have heard of similar problems with a specific one or two kiters; only one known to me who has been spoken to and informed of his errors.

I will apologise on behalf of whoever it was, as EVERYONE who is a local kiter at Wello has been in discussion as of late regarding safety precautions and monitoring the safety of our own group. We now anchor a pool noodle near the beach area, but giving a clear barrier of where the kiters should keep.

I don't see the need, unless you are clearly away from EVERYONE and about to do a trick, to have your kite, < 10m above the water; you are right; the power zone is when you sine your kite around 30->70 degrees.

Glad your sail was okay; and I don't know any Wello kiter who wears ear plugs!? Same as the kid/ small chick on the green best kite on Saturday... No idea who they were/ none of us did.

Wello was great yesterday. I spent over three hours on the water from 1100 till 230ish. I found all the kiters to be courteous and aware. good on em

I dont think the prob is with regular kiters at wello its more the newbies.
I get along along pretty good with most of the local kiters there only takes a few idiots to spoil the part though

Ahh, I wondered what the noodle was for. I found only one guy was problematic on Saturday - he kept moving from well downwind to upwind and keeping his kite low until the last second- everyone else was great despite it being pretty crowded at times. It was a nice day to be out on (or in) the water.
