So hears the thing, yesterday I was made redundant.
Heaps of thoughts going through my mind.
So if I decided to go crazy, buy a van and travel around Aus a bit windsurfing,
which would be the best way to go.
Head North? or South? (of Brisbane)
If it were me i'd head south for a bit, Gerroa.
Before heading west.
But then that all depends on what you are into... cause that would be a wavesailing trip.
Agra, if you have a family you had better stick to the east coast. Otherwise WA is windy from (generally) Nov-Feb and Geraldton can get 3-4 days a week over 20 knots and sometimes from 8am! The problem with WA is that in summer it is only blows one direction - south. The other problem is that there are so many places to sail and WA is massive!!
If you go to WA at least go to Margaret River where there can be 2-3+ metre waves and Coronation beach which is 30km north of Gero.
Start in Perth, that only gets 2-3 days over 20 knots per week!
Look at WA seabreeze forecasts and you will definitely want to go.
I was just over in Perth for a holiday, the employment section of the paper is huge and there is mobs of windsurfing spots, go west young man ![]()
Bowsa - i think the inference was if you have a family, you may never see them because of all that wind
.
Tough call Agraylin. Sorry to hear about the redundancy, but if you head west you will need money - wind + surf + reef = broken gear. Just had one of my clients / fellow sailors get the ****s with our season and re-located wife and new born to WA. Admittedly he was an ex pat pom and had no family in brissy. I've been working on my wife for the last 2 years about doing the same thing - no closer yet. but at least she lets me go sailing in where and when i like, so not too bad.
Agra. May I suggest you post on SA section. I think it can get pretty good there and waves also but I don't know much about their seasons. If you google 'windsurfing in WA' you will probably find a few travel logs from windsurfers from the east caost and you can plan your destinations.
WA can get a run of a few days only 10-15 knots but then you have time to do all the touristy stuff. Once you leave Perth the state is empty and driving around is easy especially compared to Syd & Bris.
I considered moving there (WA) but I think my wife realised how reliably windy it gets for half the year and idea get veto'd for about 5 years![]()
you guys are going to be disapointed i'm not going to perth.. just yet..
Going to Bali for a month scuba diving!
See you in a month
