Hi, I'm a member of the Inverloch Windsurfing Club (Southerly Busters). I normally sail flat water (Anderson inlet & Sandy Poin - Victoria ). I'm considering a long weekend up in Caloundra in October (need to do some work in Brisbane). Keen to try the local windsurfing scene. Can one rent any decent windsurfing gear in Caloundra & if so, where would be a good place to go windsurfing around there. Cheers.
There used to be a place on golden beach where you could hire some pretty dated gear, there's also a shop called sunshine coast sailboards I think they might hire gear out. Caloundra golden beach is popular with windsurfers best sailing is an hour each side of tidal changes current runs out pretty fast so if it's marginal you'll go backwards watch out for the sand bars they've claimed many a catapult, fin and nose repair over the years. Best winds north to south, it's usually 5 knots less than shown on seabreeze or wind finder . When it's on it's a great spot crystal clear water easy parking a nice grass rigging area with toilets showers and bbqs . If you have use if a car head south and sail the bay area in brissy
