o Mostly covered off except for initiative to place point of sale displays in shops if shops open to this. Direct people to WQ site for info on how to get started in windsurfing as well as references for those who already sail
o Still controversy surrounding insurance with discussions in third tier clubs of abandoning the AWA all together and affiliating with the yacht clubs – this to be addressed in general business
• Presentation of Annual Report
o Appalling year due to lack of wind
o Many events cancelled due to lack of wind but some great ones when it was windy
o Membership support down from previous years
• Breakdown – 6 Windwanderers 75 Bayside
o Low numbers reflect the need to increase public profile of WQ and third tier clubs and push the need for people to get involved
o Decision to retain current three tier format (AWA, WQ, Third Tier Clubs) so that WQ can look after the admin and leave the third tier clubs to promote the sport through organised events etc.
o New club set to come on board, details to follow but Padi from Surf Connect is very keen to get something happening this year
o Seabreeze discussions to increase public knowledge of the changes in the insurance policy and discussions relating to other forms of 3rd party cover for general sailing
o Acceptance of Report Tony Matta, Seconded Simon Fyfe

o New Committee Accepted by Scot Farley, Seconded Tony Matta
• General Business
o Insurance issues
• New Sports Cover policy and some household insurance policies take care of many issues but gap still exists for personal injury
• Discussions re the benefits of simply having the one policy (silver card) – does not cover organizers or third parties at events
• Looking into option of insuring the craft like boat owners do – apparently this is the case for the RSX's at RQ
o Membership decline
• Why are we lower than southern states? Q not answered
o ABN + TFN
• Both have been applied for and allocated for WQ and are now to be used in future invoicing
o Feedback re connection with AWA
• Has been a negative vibe toward AWA with some third tier clubs investigating affiliating with Yacht Clubs and having their members cover themselves with Silver Cards
• Feedback was members not happy with the way the insurance handled
• Lack of confidence in new policy
• Lack of promotion of the sport
• WQ argued new policy necessary and has good cover especially when used in conjunction with household policy and possibly the silver card as well for the personal injury aspect
• Also argued that we need to stay tied to second and third tier clubs or no infrastructure or strength in numbers
• Also argued that promotion is as much the charter of the third tier clubs – the ones taking the majority of the membership fees – as it is the second (WQ) and first tier (AWA) clubs
• Reps were to go away and think it through
• New Business
o Fee Structure
• Keep the same as last year
• $150.00 affiliation with a waiver of individual membership fees until the $150.00 is met so smaller clubs not out of pocket
o WQ Point of Sale Displays in Shops
• Scot to ask shops if they would mind displaying a small A4 display in a prominent position in the shops highlighting the existence of a state body WQ and directing customers to the website to be used as a “how to” reference and a first point of call for events and services related to windsurfing
o Modify WQ website
• Small modifications to WQ website to shift the bias toward the learner sailor or at least make a distinct tab for them to access resources to help them start off in the sport
• Update with new committee info and remove old clubs (SEQ) etc
• Close Meeting
