To the gentleman that plucked me out of the middle of the broad water today and let me hang on to his footstrap and drag me back to the beach this afternoon.....I owe you as many beers as you can drink. Thank god it was blowing a fair strength in order to be able to do that. You are a true gentleman. Thankyou. To the guys sailing the catamaran that decided to tack in front of me and take my kite lines out with your mast, thanks for throwing me a life jacket and keeping me alive. I was really in a bit of strife there at one stage as I was being dragged underwater by the capsized cat and my lines tangled around the mast. Scary couple of minutes had by all. Bobbing up and down in the middle of the broad water on the Seaworld side was not the most pleasant of experiences I must admit.
Kirtis/Toddy. I retrieved my Kite, bar, lines and harness about 1km south but my board is gone. Thanks boys for leaving all my gear on the beach. SurfFX, I will see you tomorrow.
Wow, I was windsurfing there today and totally missed the whole episode, mind you I'm pretty blind without my glasses. Glad you're Ok mate
Cheers
Michael
Mikey do you know who he is? Older gentleman. Irish I think, could have been Scottish. It happened about 2 mins after I yelled out at you when you were flying past at 93km's per hour.
Johnny boy, sounds like a pretty hairy incident. Might be time to give up tea bagging and come and join Wencky and I on the windsurfers!![]()
I thought I saw a green kite stuck on the top of the cat just before is capsized.
Glad to hear you are ok. Sorry, couldn't see the details of the drama from where I was. Was it the Chairman that did the towing? Not bad for a potato farmer!
Probably Alphasnail caused the cat to suddenly tack.
Needs glasses.![]()
I had a similar incident at shearwater couple week ago where the mast base pin broke, leaving me with the board and rig floating seperately and the tide going out. Luckily a kitesurfer came to the rescue and pulled me to shore. Its good to know that the windsurfing and kitesurfing community look after you in a moment of strife, give us learners a bit more confidence on the water.
Ah Fra Fra I'm still laughing brother! As Bart says drop the dope on a rope and learn to sail my friend.
