The next WindWanderers meet is being planned for this coming sunday the 9th of august.
Location :- Victoria Point or Wello
Sponsor :- Windsurfing Sales
This is the first meet for the club for the new season, 2010 signon forms will be available on the day.
Windsurfing sales have provided a give away and BBQ to help us kick off the new season.
Of course we wait to see how the forecast shapes up but things are looking ok at this early stage with the long range indication of a possible low.
more info to follow. ![]()
Lets hope it Blows Gestalt.
Also I have some Loft Switchblades to demo in sizes 6.3, 6.8, 7.3, 8.5 for those who wish to try one.
for more info on these sails see http://www.loftsails.com/kam_pages/1/e/395.php.
see ya there ![]()
heads up we are also looking at the saturday.
i know it can be a problem with changing dates but we are after the wind. ![]()
also i've had some emails about memberships. so to let everyone know
membership fees
$35 social member (includes awa social members insurance)
$42 competitive member (includes awa competiton insurance for all other clubs and events in australia)
$50 Passionate member (also includes awa competition insurance as above)
25-30 knots SSE
on saturday. possible some S as well.
high tide is around lunch so best of both worlds at VP.
i will confirm friday night on seabreeze and via email.
also wanted to give everyone the heads up that i have received word from WQ. It is possible that a new insurance policy will be used this year. i was told that the AWA are looking at taking on a policy which is a much more comprehensive policy. i am not sure of any more details than that at this stage.
it does mean that club memberships will possibly need to increase by $5 as the wanderers is run very very leanly.
so the new memberships could potentially be.
$40 social member (includes awa social members insurance)
$45 competitive member (includes awa competiton insurance for all other clubs and events in australia)
$50 Passionate member (also includes awa competition insurance as above)
will let everyone know once i find out.
will makea decission regards the meet late tonight to allow enough time for the models to settle.
currently things are still up and down.
at this stage it is uncertain what time the ridge will move through? there is some potential it will move through sat night and not during the day.
at this early stage though i am still positive we will see wind.
cheers
J

thanks to everyone today and to vando and bud at windsurfing sales.
it was great to see so many people on the water in one place. prob 25 all up.
it was also great to kick off the new season.
thankfully we got wind!
prob 20 knots. ![]()
the lucky draw will be held at another meet. seems everyone was keen to hit the water after the sausages leaving the bbq area empty. ![]()
What a great venue. Had not been there for a long time and never sailed there. That would be a meet not to miss regardless of the wind.
Sounds like u guys had a great day. Would have been there but busy with house stuff,
Next time I hope
VP was really great! Water was sooo warm! Wind sooo constant!
Gestalt, was the venue at the southern parking spot? I parked north around 2pm but saw no one running around. Everyone on the water :)
Whatever, we all had fun; most important thing. Great day!
hi trauma, we were up at the western end.
lol, i didn't even see you there. ![]()
hi kellie, no worries. has the new abode finalised? ![]()

.G
Thanks Gesty those snags always go down well.
Pretty good day apart from a massive headache i got later
.
early night me thinks
ta vando
There were a decent number of you guys out there; looked like a nice clean session. I passed up the temptation to go out because of its inconsistency (gust wise for me).
Gave into the skateboard instead! ![]()
Weather was just great though!!!! Bring on Summer!!! ![]()
hooray, finally got some wind.
got out on the 5.3 early, but it started to drop off as the morning progressed, switched to 5.9 after about 90minutes on the water, but by then it was pretty darn light.
Anyway, had to work in the arvo, so i didn't miss much anyway.
was pretty busy close to shore eh, argh kites, someone explain to me why kiters always seem to kite 20m from shore in a tiny bunch? much nicer and windier out the back, at least the water was blue haha.
Yep, it was a good one Justin. Bit cold though. Its been about a month since I've sailed and bits of me were objecting more than usual.
I had a fang on the Loft Switch Blade 6.2 demo out at the strip. Once I got the harness lines right it was pretty sweet. We had some 20 knot gusts and it wasn't bothered by them at all. It just pulled harder, more or less as you would expect from a decent race sail.
I was mildly and pleasantly trashed at the end of it. :)
cheers dave,
certajinly warms the cockles to see a good crew on the water and cheers for the loan of 7 sons. the forward loop tutorial has been on high rotation (no pun intended) at home. ![]()

Hi Hagar,

p.s. next stop North Kirra.
