Next Meet has been planned for saturday 16th.
a new location "Sandgate" will be visited.
the meet will also includeb a gearswap and is being sponsored by Surfconnect.
high tide is set for the afternoon.
Meet will be at Sandgate Beach, Arthur Davies Park, Flinders Parade, between 7th & 8th Avenue, Sandgate. It is right next to the Sandgate swimming pool. There is a toilet block, BBQs, taps, drinking fountains & shower there, with a fish & chips/coffee shop 50m across the road.
You will also see the Surf Connect's school's van (with big wind & kitesurfing graphics) and flags flying at the park. Park anywhere along the main road there. For those bringing gear to the gearswap, lay your gear on the grass in the park and please keep pathway clear as we have a lot of families and disabled people walking and jogging at the seafront. Council's permit for the meet is for 11-3pm. Please make sure no rubbish is left behind the area.
High tide is 2.15pm on the day so get your gear ready and you can sail right off the beach there. Best time to sail would be an hour or two before and upto 2 hours after high tide there. As the tide goes out, watch the sandbanks! The area is extremely safe, no jellies around at present, no rocks, you dont even need booties! We havent started wearing wetties yet but its close. First aid station and rescue boat will be on standby.
If wind is good, we could even do a fun bay run across to woody point and back. Say 1pm start? Will get rescue boat to follow crew. Will invite all kiters to join in run too, its time we make friends ![]()

You can also tell how old the photo is cause Parkey was still allowed in the camping ground ![]()
What I really want to know though is where is the strapper and MK IV
heads up to let everyone know we will also have a sup and some landsailors at the meet for some extra fun.![]()
yeah there were trees around back then... not now after parky's fun filled nye!!
I think the fibre glass custom made 'blaster' from vitamin sea is sitting in all its glory about 13 boards from the front....
was my first brand new board... set me back about 500 if I can remember correctly! ![]()

Just arranged the Zooter guys (http://www.the-zooter.com/) to come up with a demo cart too. The Indo boards (www.indoboards.com.au/) will be there also.
Boat is loaded, if no wind or westerly, it will be perfect to go skurfing/wakeboarding as water will be flat as. Bring a vest if you have one, register at the desk if you wanna go behind the boat. Gearswap starts 12nn.
cheers ian,
was a bit light on the wind front today. i got a couple of photos that i will upload later tonight.
thanks to padi for putting in a big effort helping get the meet happening and thanks to those that came along to join in (phil came down from mackay...
on business
, thanks also to pete for bringing the sup for demo and the guys from zooter and indo boards for bringing their gear down..
Including the kiters, i think we managed around 25 people all up. was a longboard kind of day, light winds and clear blue skies. great weather.
out on the water was the sup, starboard phantom and one design. the kiter guys went skurfing out off the beach. On the land a few of us tried the landboards and mucked around with the batwing setup. the gear swap saw some real bargains if you needed a new sail.
In the end we held off with the bbq as most headed off early due to the light winds.
next meet is planned for mid june and will be held at bribie island to make the most of the westerlies.
cheers Jb
cheers padi,
and big thanks for the support surf connect have given the club since it began.
that was my first time at sandgate. that's a great spot you've got there.
It's a pleasure mate, and good to see fellow windsurfers getting together purely to enjoy without any politics. Continue the good work. You have my support for life mate.
