The last time I windsurfed at Bribie I remember getting towed back from the marker off the bottom tip of the island. Strong outgoing current sailed into a patch of jelly fish too chicken to fall off - and floated...

But the swells in the channel are sweet when your in a surf rescue rubber dinghy

the meet would have seen an incoming tide however so it would have been as safe as possible. i love sailing there but wouldn't do it alone on an outgoing tide. it is it's wildest with an outgoing tide and 25+knot SE wind. the swells (waves) in the channel can get to 3/4 mast high. i remember sailing there once and seeinf my mate get hammered by jumping mullet.

Bongaree, yes I hadn't thought of that. Good idea. Last time we went there the wind didn't turn up.

What do you mean "the votes have been counted"? I don't see any votes. I might go up to see Al Green and check out GB if Bongaree's not on, or I might just go there anyway. Its more fun than GB.

Hey Notwal, if its sw don't bother with GB, Caloundra bar might be ok but Bongaree or Pebble beach will be best. I sailed Bongaree on an out going tide last year with the wind 14 - 28 knots and it was wild nearly broke my neck again with some huge catapaults. Only on an incoming tide now

Over on the mainland opposite Bongaree but round the corner a bit facing south. It's a right turn of Bribie Island road just before the bridge. There's a big carpark and a nice white sand beach.

If others are going up there tomorrow I'll come along. I'm keen for a sail but don't want to go alone.

there will be no sailable areas at pebble beach until just before and after high tide.

Is it suitable for novice's like myself as I struggle in the chop?

should be ok daneli,

towards high tide it may get a bit more bumpier if the wind is in to it. this spot gets a strong current so keep an eye on that. alhtough it will be incoming so it will take you into the passage and not out to sea.

Hi Charles, This meet was a last min thing not much notice was given.
most of the meets though are run on the forecast. Keep an eye out on seabreeze. also if your a member of Windwanderers you should get an email.

hi charles, sorry i missed your post from a couple of days ago.

vando is on the money.

some more info is that we will probably re-run the meet later in the year due to no wind.

i was pushed for time on this one for a few reasons.

firstly, we needed an incoming tide which gave us 2 windows of opportunity.
plus the sponsor was unavailable early in the week
also i had to clear the decks with tha familly
and lastly, the sponsor is heading off to jeri in brazil in a few weeks so we had to get it in before that happens.
