Hi guys - quick enquiry - is it worth bringing gear to Yeppoon in July or am I better off leaving it at home - and what is gear is best (98 freewave or 112 freestyle)and a 4.7, 5.4, 6.4 - got 10 days staying with my grey nomads (parents) that migrate there every year - is there any where to hire - going via the goldie and Sunshine (flying then renting a wagon with the family)

Cheers,

RussH

Cheers look forward to a bit of a briefing - not sure whether to stick the gear in or just watch everyone sail while I'm there.

Russh,
No where to hire gear - in fact closest windsurfing shop is 600k away (Caloundra).

Generally July is not very good for wind - FirieBob has it all in Cairns. Last year there wasn't a breath of wind for around 10weeks over June July and early August. That said if you don't bring your gear then chances are it will blow. Bring your gear and it won't.

So if possible don't bring your gear and it'll blow for me.

Actually if it blew (highly unlikely) I could probably loan you a boom, wave sail (Ezzy waves SE 5.0, 5.8, & 7.0) and scrounge around for mast. Board could be a little more difficult although my brother hasn't used his JP 95l freewave for some time.

Thanks for that S - sounds like I will leave it at home and whinge and moan like crazy to the misses and kids if it's windy.

Very generous offer of gear - but I am always a little reluctant to borrow stuff for fear of damage - the more careful you seem to be the higher the risk of that once a year major catapult and nose damage or knee through the bottom panel

I'll keep an eye out though while we are there - if you see a pale southerner dancing around on the beach like a chimpanzee, cursing and swearing while thy're watching you sail this July - It'll probably be me.

Cheers,

Russ H
