For those who windsurf at Wellington Point, we certainly have not missed the massive concrete wall that has had a negative visual impact on the Point. With the construction of the wall, the owner has not only removed all the vegetation to the east and northern sides of the hill but now is asking Council for permission to build a house which exceeds the 8.5 metre height limit! An objection notice has been up on the property for anyone to send in an objection regarding permission to go over the standard 8.5 metre limit.
If you would like to save the remaining beauty of Wellington Point we would like you to sign the attached objection letter and send it to Council to be on their desk by Tuesday the 17th November, or send me a photocopy of your signed letter or feel free to drop it in our mailbox in Wellington Point. The more objections the better so spouses/partners/parents or children over eighteen can EACH sign a form. You can download the forms for family members and friends to sign although they must be in to the Council by the17th.
The late notice is that I am in the middle of exams so thanks you for your support!

stellar, can you confirm if the address is 3 main road, if it isn't then ignore everything written below.
if it is then here is the application number MC011692
go to this page for all of the details. pdonline.redland.qld.gov.au/Common/Error/PageNotFound.aspx?aspxerrorpath=/modules/applicationmaster/default.aspx
looking the the council website this has been a long and drawn out process for the owners with numerous applications.
looking at their intent the house is situated very close to the retaining wall and will TOWER over the landscape. it's a shocker.
did i mention i think the house is a shocker!
currently 37 complaints on the website.
edit* this is a quote from the planning report.
gothic revival style to reflect the popular england victorian.
Yes Gesalt, It is 3 main road.
everything you have mentioned is exactly the reason for our objection.
what a whopper, you guys had better teach the kids and dad to
windsurf in the coming years,
then you will have the clubhouse we always dreamed of!
(before they knocked down the unused south ramp toilet block of course! ![]()
well i'll be lodging a letter, i have some notes i've made against the proposal.
1. loss of cultural heritage of the area.
2. loss of amenity to parklands due to overshadowing
3. potential reflectance issues
4. potential noise concerns with pool overlooking parkland
5. no detailed drawings dealing with stormwater runoff of the property within 100m of marine park
6. roof pitches and mass not in keeping with surrounding heritage and vanacular builidings.
7. gothic revival style is not in keeping with the cultural heritage of the bayside area.
and on and on.
to write a good letter it is often an advantage to reference the sections of the local plan in the planning report that you feel have not been adhered to
don't forget to add
paragraph A sector 11...extreme obstacle for kitesurfers on a westerly wind, especially the big pointy roof!
yeah that planning report is a joke, the area in question is a heritage area. english heritage is not quite the same as bayside heritage. ![]()
sausage your change is noted and welcome. i think i filled stellars inbox last night.....
the notes i posted here were the short version. ![]()
i get a fine for doing 80?? when i was doing less than 60 in 60 zone
