Wello Point Shared Parking Trial Update ---
You probably saw the article in the local paper today re the Shared Parking Trial at Wello Pt.---
Council will be making a decision on this soon. Council officers did collect some data during the trial. I also collected data, over a longer period, with the help of kite surfer Trevor Jack. Our data and Council data agree - that the shared parking trial worked and could be extended to more trailer parking spaces. We are suggesting that atleast that whole row near the toilets be shared parking.---
The main issue for the boaties is not the sharing of parking spaces, but the lack of policing of the parking by Council officers as Council only allocates a small budget to about 6 officers who have to cover all areas of Redlands over the weekends and hence only spend a limited time at Wello Point. ---
As with many things, the winner is likely to be the ones who scream loudest - so please make your support for the shared parking to be expanded to more trailer parks and to continue, but also for better policing of the parking to make sure the boaties do have access to all 75 trailer parks before 1pm. And remember they still have access to the shared parks after 1pm. You can use the conclusions and recommendations from the attached report in your email.---
