Hi I am going to QLD in a couple of weeks and staying at the gold coast what good spots are there around for speed and slalom sailing. I will bring my formula gear as well just in case no wind and need a windsurfing fix.
Hoping to get some speed sailing at Wellington point with the locals but not sure what wind direction to sail there and how you guys communicate where you will be sailing.
What other spots work in different directions around the gold coast.
Cheers

You might already know but just in case you do realise that Wellington point isn't on the Gold Coast. It's around a 1 hour drive away.

For speed sailing you need a north to north easter and a mid (or 2/3) to low tide so the bank is out of the water.
Unless the wind is strong, on weekends and holidays you have lots of kites around. In that case you can sail over to Lota Ck. It works in the same conditions.

mainly NE up till christmas, then SE become more regular. you can still get NE through to end of march but not as regular as SE

Christmas/January are hit and miss for wind in QLD, and you may be better off staying in the southern parts of aus
