I strapped the gopro onto the tip of the mast on Friday and put a small snippet of a great four hour session together with some music. It was a great day out there with plenty of breeze and some not bad chop hopping to be had.

I think there is a better setting for that distance off the mast, which would give a closer view of the rider but it did get a good overview of the board and what it was doing.

Loved it!

What sort of skill level is needed to safely ride queens? It was just the other day I was down there and I couldn't believe the size of swell rolling through, for a protected beach.

Most days it's really quite sheltered and manageable. I would say if you can turn around and get in the straps and hook in you would be fine up there. Just stay away from the rock wall because you can get caught out there on the low tides (as swoosh and I found out on Friday)

Queens is the best windsurfing spot in SEQ. Plenty of steady wind and easy access, but you do have to be ready to face huge chop and underlying swell. Once you're outside the protection of the reefs it is wide open bay with a huge fetch. You need to be confident in waterstarting, and gybing helps too, as continual waterstarting takes it out of you. You also need to keep an eye on you position relative to the reefs at each end of the beach - you don't want to end up in there as no-one can help you.

It takes a while to get used to it, but once you are there the fun just does not stop!

Cheers ULF. The video from the mast makes it look smooth but there were some great ramps out there, especially around the low tide. It was a pity the ramps and higher wind that came in later didn't coincide or I would have got some great jumps happening. Was a great afternoon though and I just love to jump on port tack so it suited me down to the ground.

Sweet as indeed. On the Tabou with I guess your fav 5.4 Duke? Did not look that windy but you were hooting....great air time.

Hope to hit the water over here at Port Hedland this weekend. 6m plus tides .........interesting.

All the best Scott.

Have fun justismi, my brother used to live there when he was just beginning to sail and said it was an awesome spot.
