yeah man, sailed there today, was cool, sort of freaked me out, can't remember much about it. But what about all the pink turtles and orange dolphins, and purple spotted jellies, they tasted good too....... Got the munchies!
Clean - no far from it. Extremely muddy and quite a few sticks and stuff. Current was pretty strong coming out of the creek probably flood water. But I had no probs hitting anything, I think. Had my first sail on my new (2nd hand) 90L Exocet Warp board and 6.5 sail, just didn't match the conditions. I had lots of spinout that I don't think was weed, who knows?? I think it'll take a few sails to get the hang of this board! Was pretty fast but when you're not in control it's a bit scary for an old guy.... Can't wait for the next session to try some other options/combinations of sail, fin and settings.
Cheers
Hi Vando - Tried the original one first, skinny fin I think 37cm but wasn't much good. Then I tried the one I brought of Glynn a Slalom 30cm Anders Bringdal one. Went better but with the 6.5 sail think I needed a longer fin. All my previous boards have been powerbox so I do have a range of fins for them but not tuttle. I am keen on the 30cm for VP due to it being shallower, poor excuse I know!!
Do you have a preference for fin size from previous experience?
My sail sizes are 6.5, 5.8, 5.3 & 4.6 but probably mainly use the 90L board for the 5.3 & 4.6. My thoughts are that the 30cm fin will go much better with the smaller sail. I was just champing at the bit to get out on the new board regardless of weather cond, thats why the 6.5 but then someone turned on the wind!!
Cheers
