Totally.
I have been here first time in my life, almost alone beside kiters and had the best windsurfing day in years.
What is the reason to abandon the best place in westerly wind on Gold Coast?
Easy access to water with plenty of grass to setup.
Water is perfectly clean, clear and almost flat, bottom sandy, wind stable, good long run from tip of the Spit to Gold Coast city almost.
Traffic a bit heavy as for holiday typical but manageable.

I sail there. love it - pretty gusty - but beutiful long runs -usually beautiful clear water over winter - get say three days in a year maybe? there are a couple of points where the wind is compresed by buildings and you cant come up to southport pool since those new buildings went in - down to wavebreak & back up - buildings seem to make the already gusty westerly worse - but I go for a big board big sail and tough out the gusts rather than a small sail and slog. I found if you get to the western side of the shippimg lane near the bank you get out of the traffic & boats - But i went up to Wellington point - man it is good in a westerly, truely- much cleaner & smoother. I am very impressed
Its brilliant 3 or 4 times a year however it needs to be howling to fill in and a touch of north is best WNW something like that.
The police come and told me to get out of the channel once and you need to be careful of the tree stumps at the very north of the sandbar.
Also the tide races out if you come off.
Yes its great when it all comes together.
