Guys, do you know any store close to city where I can get at least thread with a needle, to close the hole? I suppose It should be some special thread?
Thanks
Nick
Never repaired sails before, but I would be looking for some waxed thread like they use for leather work. any good saddlery will sell it. And they sell the needles as well.
What sort of hole is it? I don't know if you should be taking needle and thread to your sail?
I used to keep a pack of self laminating sheets for repair sails, cut to size, and thicker and more durable than tape in my opinion, sorta like sticky monofilm, and it isn't stretchy like most tapes are. http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Office-Supplies/Presentation/Self-Laminating-Consumables/Laminating-Sheets/AC91180
Use the exact stuff swoosh linked, it's basically sticky back monofilm. I have used it successfully to repair 400mm long slits in panels let alone a tiny hole. It will stick easily to the reinforced mono, just clean the area well both sides, cut out two nice squares with rounded edges, apply both sides and 'rub them in' really hard with a towel. Profit. A needle and thread is a fools game.
You can get a roll of mylar tape from any marine shop e.g. www.whitworths.com.au/
This self-adhesive tape is made for marine conditions and is the same stuff some sails are made of, it's cheap and you can cut off any size you need from the roll whenever you need it ![]()
